That baby is only 10 weeks old?!!?
With neck control like that, I would have guessed a 3 or 4 months old.
The mom seemed flattered when I said that and she mentioned proudly that the baby has neck control from a 4-month-old, at 10 weeks.
As I sat in this park, eavesdropping on their conversation, somewhat doing boring admin tasks, I noticed a few things. One, I was out of the house! Two, some simple joys of how life is pre-pandemic are happening again.
THIS IS GROWTH.
This is transformation.
I love talking to strangers.
I started this conversation by going on a whim, with the slight risk that could have led to embarrassment, but went for it anyway. I asked the one man standing a bit socially distanced from the new mom, her baby, and her dad if he and the dad were twins. As a twin, I feel like I should be able to detect such similar attributes. The man said they weren’t, but wasn’t bothered by my ask. I seriously felt like my old self. I opened my mouth and said something in hopes of connection and it worked. My curiosity + my desire to connect led to a great conversation, with share interests and more.
Do you have a desire to connect with people around you?
The man and I spoke freely and comfortably, not knowing a thing or two about one another. Adoption, Monarch Connections, Sex Education, Teaching, Jesus, and Suing Trump were all topics we spoke about while the new mom snuck away to grab lunch and a moment to herself.
Since Summer began, I have personally been trying to steal away and see what causes curiosity, inspiration and what might push Monarch Connections into its next season.
As the world has opened up in many ways, the company has felt pressure to go back to in-person events only. Despite that though, Monarch Connections would not be who it is without the connections made online, too. Online events, a future conference, meet-ups, upcoming book studies, and transracial adoption courses plus opportunities to connect in person along with coaching will remain WHO WE ARE. As summer is almost ending, go out on a whim, try something new, take a healthy risk and be sure to track your transformations, albeit, big or small. Anything worth sharing, please do. I am hoping to start sharing stories of transformation and will need more to compile. When you feel ready, please share them here.
Things to look forward to:
